What is Afrofuturism?

Afrofuturism is a cultural movement that uses the frame of science fiction and fantasy to reimagine the history of the African community and evoke visions of a future that is technically advanced and generally hopeful, in which focused on Black culture such as art, cinema, literature, music, fashion, etc. I believe that Afrofuturism would be creating a different narrative for Africa.

Concept

Ideal City 2050 is a great urban landscape project with sustainable architecture and Afrofuturism ideas. Based on the Epa - Adinkra symbol of Africa, a great symbol of law and justice, I'd design the urban landscape model with two square shapes connected together where placed skyscrapers, towers, and houses as well as having fly hypersonic aircraft of peerless sophistication on the sky. The skyscrapers are focused at the center of the city and separated by a short winding river. On each side of the city, I built some historical architectural buildings such as ancient temples, churches, or pyramids integrated into modern structures. Especially, I used eight Tron light cycle parts for designing the stop stations and also providing the lighting function for the whole city.
In the model, there are 60 percent of the primary color is black; 30 percent of the secondary color is transparent white; 10 percent of the accent color is transparent brown to show a strong hierarchy and emphasis on functions and a streamlined form. My favorite part is the power of the black elements to shape every single building in particular and the whole model in general.

My purpose is to bring architecture go beyond in the future by using a way of imagining possible futures through a black cultural lens and drawing an artistic picture that is not only aesthetic but also proud of human civilization.

I think of the Ideal City 2050 as a city that fills the material and social space gaps in the lives and livelihoods of black people who feel like outsiders in spaces not made for and by them, aiming to create a more inclusive city that ensures survival in an increasingly globalized world in the future as well as showing a great transformation with the burgeoning black culture.
